Behind success of every organization, there is hard work & vision of an individual and the same is the case with Fakhris. It has grown from a humble beginning, by its founder Hajee Mulla Abdul Karim Fakhri in the year 1948.
Having gathered vast experience in trading in different countries like Iraq, Calcutta, Burma, and Sri Lanka since 1910, he migrated to then East Pakistan in the year 1948 and started trading with a small shop in Chittagong, establishing Fakhri & Sons Ltd. Foreseeing vast potentialities in the port city, Hajee Mulla Abdul Karim Fakhri began investing in buying lands. He started with the trading in flour mills, rice mills, and hardware and eventually set up the first fully automatic German brick plant in 1959, which later grew into an industry known today as Chittagong Bricks & Clay Works Ltd., which is one of the oldest and most reputed in its field. Over the years, the group has diversified into other prosperous industries in Bangladesh – construction, real-estate and agriculture spread over 100 acres of land in Faujdarhat, Sitakundu, Chittagong with the automatic brick manufacturing plant in about 10 acres of land.
